Samsung plans to adapt Android 13’s new media controls with One UI 5.1 update

Samsung is continuing its effort to improve in-house skin One, the latest attempt shows another step towards making it look more like Android's Original UI. This plan is not just limited to the upcoming Galaxy S23 Series but also hits the older flagships like S22, S21, and Note 20 Ultra.

One UI 5.1, as reported by WinFuture and SnoopyTech this weekend, appears to be a relatively small update overall, but one with some valuable changes and tweaks.

Many of the changes begin with the camera, including improved color toning and access to Samsung's Expert RAW app. There are also several changes to Samsung's Gallery app, the most notable of which is the addition of the ability to save screenshots in a location of the user's choosing. While Samsung's Gallery app can already separate screenshots from camera shots, other photo apps, such as Google Photos, cannot. That appears to be changing with the release of One UI 5.1.

Another prominent addition is Android 13's new media player, which supports Wi-Fi speakers via Cast or Spotify Connect. Google only announced that functionality earlier this year, and support has yet to be rolled out to Pixel phones.
