Earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, the Lenovo-owned Motorola officially unveiled the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. And soon both devices will see new versions launched, if the rumor mill is any indicator.
We’ve already seen the Moto G5S and Moto G5S leak out back in May, and now VentureBeat has a new report on the latter handset, effectively confirming what we’ve heard about the G5S while also revealing one key difference. Instead of a plastic design as we saw with the original G5 and G5 Plus, the G5S Plus will boast an anodized aluminum frame. The G5S Plus will also have a slightly larger screen, measuring at 5.5 inches instead of 5.2 inches, but will keep the 1080p HD resolution.
The G5S Plus is also expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor under the hood, and it will max out at 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. It will reportedly be running Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, too.
Another key change in this “special edition” version is the inclusion of a pair of cameras on the back, which will both be 13 megapixels. One of those shooters will be color and the other black-and-white, and will give owners the ability to take bokeh effect photos. The front-facing camera will also be bumped up to an 8-megapixel sensor, up from the 5-megapixel camera that’s available on the standard Moto G5 Plus.
The report indicates that Motorola may introduce both the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus on July 25, when the company has already confirmed it will be hosting an event in New York City. Motorola is also expected to unveil the Moto Z2 Force and Moto X4 at the event, along with new Moto Mods.
What do you think of the Moto G5S Plus’s specifications?
