Google rolling out new Instant tethering for Pixel and Nexus devices

Google is rolling out a very interesting new feature with Google Play Services 10.2. It’s called “Instant Tethering” and lets you automatically tether compatible Android devices when one loses a connection.

If one device loses connection, it’ll ask if you want to tether to another device that has a connection and is on the same Google account. This works without having to enable tethering; Instant Tethering does everything for you.

Unfortunately, this feature is only rolling out to Pixel and Nexus devices on Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the time being. And even then, all owners of those devices won’t see them, because it’s slowly rolling out server side. Nonetheless, it’s an awesome feature that gets rid of the hassle of pulling out your other device, enabling tethering, and connecting to the network with your first device.
