Huawei Mate 9's Android Oreo beta update is under public testing

Now that Oreo is out and running on Google hardware, every manufacturer is working on the update for its flagship devices and every power user is wondering when they’ll get it on their phones.

Huawei has been seen testing Oreo on the Mate 9 in benchmarks, but now the company is pushing the update out to select beta testers. The test is currently limited to 250 people so it’s unlikely that most willing participants can get it, but we hope that the scope of the testing will be expanded once the software becomes more stable.

It’s great to see another manufacturer pushing for Oreo on its flagships, though the speed of these updates is still slower than we’d like. Either way, we can’t wait to see what Huawei has in store for the Mate 9.
