Project Fi is now testing Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) technology with a subset of its customers. Since its inception, Project Fi has used the traditional approach of falling to HSPA when making a call. With VoLTE, call quality is improved, calls connect faster and data browsing is faster while in calls.
Project Fi is Google’s MVNO that operates on Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular networks, switching between those three and Wi-Fi based on the quality and strength of the available networks. The innovative approaches employed by Project Fi have attracted attention from consumers, and the carrier has garnered positive feedback. With the introduction of VoLTE, Project Fi is reiterating its commitment to constant improvement.
VoLTE is currently testing with a small subset of Project Fi customers. The company plans to continue testing and announce its future plans when testing is complete.
