Samsung's Android Go phone spotted in leaked images

A new report from SamMobile, the first images of what is being called the Samsung J2 Core have surfaced. This is reportedly the Samsung’s first Android Go smartphone, but it looks like one rumor won’t be panning out. As you can see from the images, this Android Go smartphone is decidedly not running a stock version of Android on board.

Samsung has its proprietary user interface on board the J2 Core, which isn’t too surprising; this is Samsung we’re talking about. What’s more, the Android Go website doesn’t actually dictate that every single Android Go smartphone has to be running a stock version of Android. They just need to be slimmed down entry-level handsets, built for speed and efficiency.

Apps that are designed for Android Go smartphones will be part of the mix, though, including the Go versions of Google’s stock apps, like Gmail and YouTube. Samsung’s got its stock apps in there, too, including its own Gallery option. And this device has Facebook Lite installed as well.

There is no word yet when Samsung is planning on launching its first Android Go smartphone, but the J2 Core may see an official launch soon if it’s already starting to pose for photos out in the wild.
